Reading Nutrition Panels
The nutrition information panel is the most useful part of a food product label, and should always tell you the truth. Use this panel to decide if a food or drink product is a healthy choice. It is usually found on the back or side of the package.
Always look in the per 100g column so that you can compare one product to another like it.
A nutrition information panel will look something like this:
|
Per serve of x g |
Per 100 g |

FAT
- saturated |

CARBOHYDRATE

NOTE: If a product has all the levels in the correct ranges, then it is a product you can eat every day. Be careful not to eat too much though.
If the fat or sugar is high, choose this food sometimes and eat in small amounts.
If the sodium (salt) level is high, try to choose a salt reduced variety.
